เมอร์เซเดส - เบนซ์ W211 เป็นชื่อย่อของ Mercedes-Benz E-Class ซึ่งผลิตจากปีพ. ศ. 2545 ถึง พ.ศ. 2552 โดยรุ่น W211 แทนที่รุ่น W210 E-Class เปิดตัวในปีพ. ศ. 2545 สำหรับปีพ. ศ. 2546 W211 E-Class เป็นวิวัฒนาการของรุ่นก่อนหน้านี้ ก่อนที่จะเริ่มขายในอเมริกาเหนือรถได้แสดงในภาพยนตร์ 2002 Men in Black II โครงการพัฒนา W211 เริ่มขึ้นในปี 2540 ตามด้วยการออกแบบ การออกแบบขั้นสุดท้ายได้รับการแต่งตั้งในปีพ. ศ. 2542 และสิทธิบัตรเยอรมันได้ยื่นต่อเมื่อวันที่ 18 ธันวาคม 2543 โดยใช้ต้นแบบ E500 การพัฒนาสิ้นสุดลงในปีพศ. 2544 หลังจาก 48 เดือนของการพัฒนาโดยมีมูลค่ารวม 2 พันล้านยูโร การผลิตนำร่องเข้าสู่การทดสอบในช่วงฤดูร้อนปี 2544 การเปิดตัว W211 E-Class ในงาน Brussels Motor Show ในเดือนมกราคม 2545
